Institut Florimont introduces the Academica Dual Diploma™: A unique opportunity to obtain both the French Baccalauréat and the American High School Diploma
Starting in September 2025, students enrolled in the French Baccalauréat section at Institut Florimont will have the opportunity to follow the Academica Dual Diploma™ programme – an innovative educational pathway that leads to two internationally recognised qualifications.
This dual diploma combines the French national Baccalauréat with the American High School Diploma, the latter being completed through an accredited distance learning programme. Students may begin the curriculum from Year 10 (3e), ultimately obtaining both diplomas, officially recognised by the French Ministry of Education and the Department of Education in the relevant U.S. State.
How does the programme work in practice?
Each student is enrolled in two schools simultaneously, starting in 3ème if they wish. They may also join the programme in seconde or première.
The student follows the French Baccalauréat curriculum at Florimont and, in parallel, is digitally immersed in an American High School enrolling over 30,000 students worldwide.
Thanks to bilateral agreements established by Academica—a leading institution in American education—official report cards from the French curriculum account for 18 out of the 24 credits required for the High School Diploma.
The remaining 6 credits are completed remotely with Academica International Studies (AIS). At the end of this innovative course of study, the student is awarded the same national diploma as a graduating American student: the High School Diploma.
Is the American school experience truly part of the programme?
The Academica Dual Diploma™ offers much more than a dual qualification—it provides a genuine American school experience that extends far beyond academic learning.
From the second year of the programme onwards, students are invited to join extracurricular clubs, just like in American high schools: the Newspaper Club, to write for the Dual Diploma Times; the AIS Amici Club, to connect and exchange with students from around the world; the Book Club, to explore international authors and literature; and Model United Nations, to gain insights into global relations and diplomacy.
In addition, Academica International Studies hosts a year-round series of guest lectures led by experts in fields such as politics, aerospace, culture, cinema and environmental science. For example, Sunita Williams, American astronaut and former record-holder for the most spacewalks by a woman, recently spoke to students in the programme.
